Leigh Smith, Early Years Tutor

I started my childcare career in 2003, realising primary school teaching was not for me! I progressed through many roles, eventually leading to becoming a nursery manager of a 100-place nursery in Canary Wharf. I decided to change the direction of my career slightly, as I didn’t want to leave childcare completely, and became an Early Years tutor in 2015. I love working with learners and their employers, watching the progress and development that occurs over the course of a qualification.

Sharon Pilkington, Early Years Tutor

I have been a qualified tutor for 15 years and joined Hawk training in 2015. I moved into teaching and training after a career in Early Years, including having my own business as a childminder and a network childminder, where I was one of the first achieve Outstanding. I have always been passionate about childcare and got a thirst for learning when I completed my Level 3 Early Years Care and Education qualification and achieving a 2:1 BA Honours in Childhood and Youth Studies.  A very proud moment! I am happy to now be sharing my knowledge and experience with learners undertaking their own

Vicki Savage, Early Years Tutor

I have worked at Hawk Training as an Early Years Tutor since 2015. Prior to becoming a tutor, I have worked in the childcare sector since leaving school. I started my career as an apprentice, working my way through my Childcare Level 2, Childcare Level 3 and Level 3 in management. Marcella Costello, Early Years Tutor

I have been an Early Years Tutor with Hawk Training since 2015 and have been working within Early Years since 2002. Throughout this time, I have undertaken various roles in the sector where I have gained many qualifications to upskill and support me in my career. I love my job as I get to help people learn and develop each day and no two days are the same! I love that I get to teach people how to care for and educate children in the early years as I feel the early years are crucial years for children.

Kelly Causton, Early Years Tutor

I have been working for Hawk Training as an Early Years tutor since January 2019. I started my career in Hong Kong working in a Secondary School followed by working in an English language centre for 3 years where I taught English to children aged 0-6 years. I moved to London and started my career in a Nursery for about 10 years where I gained my Level 3 in Children’s learning and development, Level 2 in Team building and Level 3 in Management. I was lucky enough to work my way up from an apprentice through to Nursery Management. I am passionate about helping apprentices to learn and develop their skills within Early Years and supporting them to gain a valuable qualification.
