Accident, Pre-Existing Injury & First Aid
At Little Elms we aim to protect children at all times but also recognise that accidents may sometimes occur. We ensure all parties are supported and cared for when accidents or incidents happen; and that the circumstances of the accident or incident are reviewed with a view to minimising any future risks.
We recognise our duty to safeguard all children who attend our settings, part of how we do this is by ensuring suitable first aid provision is available in each setting, as well and maintaining effective safeguarding policies and procedures.
Adverse Weather & Sun
There are times when we are faced with varying types of weather including, sun, heavy rains, storms, snow etc. These can pose risks to the safety of staff, children, families and visitors so this policy outlines the measures we will take to reduce risks associated with varying adverse weather effects.
It is our policy that children will have the opportunity to play outside in the wind, rain, snow and sunshine, whilst wearing adequate clothing and sun cream.
Complaints
We welcome suggestions from parents on how we can improve our services, and will give prompt and serious attention to any concerns that parents may have. Any concerns will be dealt with professionally and promptly to ensure that any issues arising from them are handled effectively and to ensure the welfare of all children, enable ongoing cooperative partnership with parents and to continually improve the quality of the nursery.
Debtors
We operate a clear and transparent process for fees payable which are detailed in the company terms and conditions.
This process is in place to ensure we clearly communicate to families when fees payable are overdue, and as a responsible organisation in ensuring we work alongside families to achieve the best outcome for all parties when fees are not paid on time.
Incidents
We recognise our duty to ensure that where an incident occurs, we review the information of incidents with a view to reducing the risk or eliminating potential for reoccurrence.
We do this by making accurate and timely records of incidents that occur, as well as putting into place any intervention necessary to reduce the risk of these in the future. We also ensure that all incidents are handled without delay and any actions/outcomes following an incident are shared with relevant parties as required.
Outings & Local Walks
We advocate the value and benefits for children when they are given opportunities for exploration and outdoor learning. In line with this, we fully take advantage of opportunities to take children on outings, which include walks to the local park and other wider outings. These outings are planned for, and are used as a learning opportunity for the children who take part.
Information Sharing
We recognise that parents have a right to know that the information they share with us will be regarded as confidential, as well as to be informed about the circumstances when, and the reasons why, we are obliged to
share information.
Staffing Arrangements

A vital piece of this framework is ensuring we are able to maintain staff to child ratios at all points throughout the nursery day as well as maintaining compliance with the national minimum qualification criteria set out within this framework.
